OAO Oboronitelnye Sistemy was established in 1996. The Company is the key company in a group of enterprises forming a scientific and production association: OAO NPO Moscow Radio Engineering Plant, OAO Kuntsevo Design Bureau, ZAO Optronic Technologies. DS, ZAO DS. INFOCOM, ZAO OBSC Oboronpromservis.
OAO Oboronitelnye Sistemy is also the parent enterprise and the core company of the international financial industrial group (IFIG) Oboronitelnye Sistemy.
IFIG Oboronitelnye Sistemy was created in 2000 pursuant to an Agreement between the Governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. The Group comprises the leading design bureaus, defence industry enterprises, and commercial banks in Russia and Belarus. Among them are OAO Fakel Engineering Design Bureau, Moscow Scientific and Research Institute of Instrument Automation, State Obukhovsky Plant, Komintern Plant in Novosibirsk, and Belarussian companies—Minsk Weeled Tractors Plant, Plant No. 2566 for Repair of Radio-Electronic Equipment, etc.
IFIG Oboronitelnye Sistemy produces core units for the S-300 PMU1 surface-to-air missile systems (missile control units and launch automation), implements upgrade of Pechora surface-to-air missile systems to Pechora-2M, manufactures Phoenix panoramic passive IR surveillance systems, electronic jamming equipment to protect air defence facilities, TAS VMN automated territorial air and sea surveillance system, and other products.
